September 23, 2010 - MAC Awards Shine Spotlight on Avnet's 30 Best Marcom Efforts

Phoenix, AZ -- From newsletters and advertisements to promotional campaigns and special events, Avnet's marketing and communications (marcom) teams around the world make Avnet shine on a daily basis. The company celebrates the cream of the crop through its annual Marketing and Communication (MAC) Awards. This year, more than 200 entries were submitted 30 categories.

Among the winners was Avnet Electronics Marketing (EM), which won the "Best of Show" Award for emPower Online, an online employee magazine that enables employees to peer into the executive boardroom through their desktops via video, audio, presentations, graphics and articles.

Winning the "Judges Choice" Award was EBV for its EBV - 40 Years Shaping the Future anniversary book. Cited by the external panel of judges as an outstanding example of marketing, education, promotion and cooperation between EBV and its suppliers and vendors, the book contains articles about the electronics industry in Europe and EBV's place in it, accompanied by dazzling photos.

For the first time, the MAC Awards included a special award for Operational Excellence, given to a project that was the result of a great team effort. The video interviews of employees produced for Avnet's Global Strategic Summit, which included more than 180 videos shot by marketing and communications employees around the world, received the award, with Tammy Schultz and her team recognized for putting it together.
