PHOENIX -- The Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas business region of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), announces two experts to present on the current landscape of technologies available for radio frequency identification (RFID) and active device security technology at the upcoming Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) East Conference commencing in New York on June 7, 2010.
Avnet's Nick Lukianov, technical and business development director, vertical segments for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, will present on "High Frequency RFID Closed Loop Embedded Systems," and will be joined by Eddie LaCost, applications engineer from Texas Instruments and Chris Zimmardi, applications engineer from FCI Microconnections. The presentation will cover the intelligent security and data management technology available using RFID.
"Today's RFID design solutions offer medical device and instrumentation developers the safety and security they need, as well as offering a substantial reduction in costs," says Lukianov. "By combining complementary products, Avnet can create numerous ways to meet closed loop embedded RFID system application requirements."
Jim Carver, technical director for Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas, will discuss "Active Security Technology for Medical Device Applications." This talk will cover the technologies currently available to prevent liability issues, lost revenue and compromised intellectual property (IP) issues that arise from counterfeit equipment and consumables.
"As counterfeiting, IP theft and operational misuse continue to threaten medical device OEMs, it's important to know that there are security solutions available that will allow system designers to protect their equipment and their investments," says Carver.
